Hairwear is our word for hair protection designed to be worn stylishly as part of your outfit. Unlike traditional hair coverings that are often reserved for bedtime or private spaces, Mertese was created to move with you—from rest to routine and everywhere in between.
Why was Mertese created?
Mertese was born from a desire for hair-protection products that were functional, comfortable, versatile, and beautiful. Founder April Grant began developing Mertese in 2021 after discovering a lack of high-quality, attractive and versatile hair wraps and accessories that met her own needs.

The Wrap is a scarf-style hairwear designed in a triangular shape for effortless wrapping and tying around your hair. Its extended length provides more coverage than a traditional scarf, making it especially versatile for longer hair. It drapes beautifully around the hair while helping minimize friction and protect your style.
The Twist is a turban-style hairwear designed to completely cover and secure your hair using our signature twist-and-lock method. It creates a more fitted, secure feel that's ideal for all-day and nighttime wear, while helping minimize friction while you sleep. Because of its current length and construction, The Twist is best suited for short to medium-length hair.
In short: Choose The Wrap if you prefer the versatility and effortless drape of a scarf style, especially for longer hair. Choose The Twist if you prefer a more secure, fitted turban style for short to medium-length hair.

Our designs can be worn with a variety of hairstyles, including silk presses, curls, natural styles, braids, twists, locs, wigs, sew-ins, and extensions.
Because each design fits differently, hair length and volume can help determine which Mertese is right for you:
The Wrap is designed with an extended length to provide full coverage of hair up to 25 inches, making it an excellent choice for longer styles and fuller hair.
The Twist is designed for a more fitted, secure feel and is best suited for shoulder-length hair or shorter.
